April Showers bring May...Tables?

Spring is in the air (aside from the snow that is currently falling) and since Tulips are my most favorite flower, and because its just awesome, I bought a Tulip Table for my kitchen nook! Today! So Excited! How cute is it going to be when paired with my newly recovered antique Hepplewhite chairs? Yay!

I see a White Door and I want to Paint it Black

I'm totally doing this and I  know its going to be awesome. I'm going to start with the interior front door and see where that leads me.

Should I go for a softer charcoal?

Or a nice deep black in Semi-Gloss?

Or rich black with high-gloss? Is my house cool enough for this?

Regardless, I can't wait to do it and share the transformation!!

Please excuse me

While I slip into something more comfortable. Well, while I slip my ironing board into something more comfortable anyway. For MONTHS I’ve been eyeing this sweet little ironing board cover, featured on numerous blogs that I peruse daily. Every time I walk through my laundry room I look at my stained and tattered board and imagine it how cute it would be with this flowery and romantic, so unlike me, cover.
Can’t say why I’m so attracted to it or why I’ve pined over it for a few months. This weekend past I saw that it was no longer listed on the darling little Etsy Store City Chic Country Mouse . But when I emailed the shop owner out of curiosity, she just replied back that she reserved one for me. Ooops, guess that means I have to buy it..right? So, $24 and 2 weeks later, she’ll be mine and my tiny little laundry room, will be a much brighter and happier place. Not sure that this is going to get me ironing more…but ya never know?!

January

The month is not quite over, but I thought I would share a few highlights from the start of 2011, as I know the next time I blink, February will be here (and probably almost gone).  Things at work are finally picking up and it feels as though i've been hit by a freight train.  Everyone kept telling me to enjoy the quite, it will change, and boy did it ever.  All good things though.  The weeks fly by pretty fast, unfortunately, so do the weekends.  My little Kellan turned 6 months old on the 14th, he's sitting up, has 2 teeth and eats his veggies like a champ.  He's also sleeping through the night now, almost a full 11 hours to be exact and this thing they call sleep...is pretty, pretty amazing.

Following are a few things we loved about January.

Walks in a winter wonderland:

Torturing Maceos:

Our first two teeth:

The Duck Park with Daddy:

Hanging with our buddy Aiden:

First time on the big boy swing at the park:

Ridiculously warm weather for Reno in January:

Saying goodbye to Mr. White:

And saying Hello to Mr. Steel:

Also worth noting:  Grandpapa turned 60 and Cousin Hunter turned 10.  Seriously, this means I'm getting old, real old.

Say Hello to my Little Friend

This little beauty is moving into my kitchen TODAY and I could not be more excited.  Let me paint you a picture: I load the dishwasher. I run the dishwasher. I open the dishwasher after a finished cycle and find...Clean Dishes!  (insert applause)

Yes indeed.  It's going to be a dream - come - true.

Nursery

From the moment we bought our house, we knew what room would be the nursery.  It had been the babies room for the previous owners, what we didnt know was that just three days after moving into the house, we would find out I was pregnant.  This somewhat shortend the deadline to turn the room from a blue-floral wallpaper mess, into what I like to call...a sweet simple neutral nursery.  Of course my being pregnant, created a shortage of help for MC, but with a little help from Grandpa Dennis, and lots of advise from my design guru (B.F.), we made it happen.

Ironically, aside from the upstairs bathroom, it's the only room in the house that has been re-done to our liking.  Too bad we dont even use it.  At least when Kellan is ready to make the move upstairs, his room will be ready for him!

Baby Shower Weekend

A small collage of my recent Baby Shower Weekend in which all my sisters and wonderful Momma drove up from So Cal and flew in from the Mid West to throw Baby Bean a lovely shower!  It was so awesome to have our home filled with family. There was no shortage of laughter and the typical mayhem that ensues when One Momma, Five Sisters and one Grand Daughter are under the same roof!  MC spent most of the weekend golfing, (can't blame him) while Mewker Mew hung around like one of the ladies!

Special thanks to everyone who made it out to the shower.  We got some wonderful gifts all which will be put to good use once Bean drop arrives!

T-I-M-B-E-R

2 nights ago the wind hooooowwwwwled through Reno. They reported 100 mph winds through Washoe Valley. Anyways, last night we heard the news...one of the Gorgeous trees in our soon to be backyard tried to take flight. Since 30 foot trees don't fly too well, our happy tree ended up laid out in the backyard. He didn't make it. Booo. We are sad but thankful that this happend BEFORE we moved in. The sellers have been great and they got the whole thing chopped up and pulled out...stump and all. So for now, our shaddy little backyard will be little sunnier than it has been in the years before our time. I guess MC and I will have to put a new one in there...we can watch it grow with our family. It will be more special. I will however, have to find a new home for the little bird house I was so excited to put up.

The above photo was taken last Thursday during the inspection.  You can see the tree in happier times on the top left.  Please note the sweet little bird feeder hanging from the limb.

MC went out to the house to check out the damage today.  Above are a few pictures he snapped of the now empty space.  When the tree toppled over it took out the fence.  The sellers are fixing that for us as well.  I'm very grateful for them and for the fact we did not have to deal with this ourselves!

A Few House Pics!

Last Thursday we got to go back to the house for the Inspection. I tried to take a bunch of pictures but I had to be sneaky because there were a lot of people there (including the sellers) and I tend to get a little shy.

From the Living Room/Kitchen Area, looking down the entry hall. The Master is on the Left, the Dining Room on the Right and the Office is just past the hall tree on the Right.

From the upstairs hall you can see down into the living room. The kitchen is on the left.

On the side of the house is a little garden. The owner just cleaned it out. It was beautiful, she had tomatoes, broccoli, and pumpkins. The only thing that will come back next year will be the broccoli, i'm definately going to plant some tomatoes too! On the other side of the yard are pots that the seller is leaving. They are filled with basil, thyme, rosemary and chives. Through the cracks between the pavers, parsley grows. The seller says it looks like moss and it's very pretty and very edible. She has used organic methods in most of the yard. So cool!

A shot of the happy little backyard. There are many earthworms in the ground and they keep it green almost year-round. The seller cautioned me not to use any fertilizers in order to keep the earthworms alive and well. Live long and prosper little earthworms!

The New Digs

...We'll before the end of the month anyways. We are so excited, and maybe a little nervous, but mostly thrilled to become home owners. After many failed offers and a handful of let downs, we finally found what could quite possibly be...our dream home. It's in great condition as it is, but in true Me Fashion, I have completely remodelled it in my mind. My sweet MC gets nervous everytime I start talking about it. Eventually he'll understand that i'm only dreaming out loud.

More pre-move in pictures to come soon!
